Games

This isn't a page for the Dragon Quest games themselves. The games - MSX, Famicom, Super Famicom, Nintendo, Game Boy, etc - are a given. In Japan, Enix released many additional games based on the Dragon Quest genre. These include several editions of card games, board games, and even a slime "pet" tamagotchi. However, many of these games are rare and expensive even in Japan, so I have found them difficuly to add to my collection.

Slime Pet

Slime Pet

In the late 1990s, tamagotchis and electronic pets were quite the rage. The fad was brief in the United States, but it has been around in Japan for a prolonged period of time. This is a slime pet; it starts as a baby slime, and with attention and vigilance, it grows and evolves into other slimes.

They are posted on eBay on occassion, so that is probably the best place to look. It originally retailed for 2480 yen..

Slime Derby

Slime Derby

The basic premise of the game is self-explanatory. There is a racing track, slime tokens of various colors, and a card deck to determine the movements of each slime. Beyond that, I haven't a clue how it works since the handbook is in Japanese, but this is still one of the highlights of my DQ collection.
